CAPBT behaviourists work on referral to ensure that your vet has diagnosed that your pets problems are behavioural.
Why is this important?
Whilst most problems do not have a medical cause, it is important to ensure, as far as possible, that any such problems are dismissed, or treated. Problems may range from abscesses, hip pain, thyroid, skin problems for instance.
There may be times where your vet wishes to progress with the behavioural process in conjunction with medical treatment.
Your vet is concerned about your dogs overall health. Behaviour Therapy is concerned with your pets emotional health. If is important for your vet to be kept informed regarding any process which looks at your dogs health and well being. Occasionally, you will be referred back to your vet for further help.
